At the Ethics Bowl: consultant Heleana Theixos, Dr. Omar Malik, Justin Mourguet, Hannah Petitti, Halli Gruncer and GA Alex Archambeau.

Dr. Omar Malik and a team of three students, Halli Grunder, Justin Mourguet and Hannah Petitti, competed last weekend in the 19th annual Central States Regional Intercollegiate Ethics Bowl Competition last weekend in Indianapolis. The ‘Berg team won fifth place and advanced to the national competition, which will be held March 3-4 in Chicago.

The Intercollegiate Ethics Bowl gives students the opportunity to argue and defend their moral assessment of some of the most complex ethical issues facing society today. Questions addressed an array of topics in business and professional ethics, in personal relationships, and in social and political affairs. The competition is based on cases that cover a wide range of disciplines. Students demonstrate their knowledge of the facts of the case, the ethical principles and their argument about how the case should be resolved and respond to challenge from the opposing team and the panel of judges.

Ethics consultant Heleana Theixos worked with the Heidelberg team to help prepare for the competition.
