PURSUITS: Week of Nov. 30, 2015

Dr. Nate Beres (chemistry), Heidelberg’s Chemistry Club and the departments of Chemistry and Biochemistry were recognized in The Nexus, a publication of the American Chemical Society Green Chemistry Institute. The recognition centers on the Chem Club’s Green Chemistry Student Chapter Award, which the club received for the second year in a row earlier this fall. The award is an indication that the club demonstrated the value of green chemistry to humans the environment by incorporating green chemistry principles into at least three of its outreach activities.

An article, Life of the Mind/Life of the House: This Place Matters, authored by Dr. Vicki Ohl (Academic Affairs), has just been published in Housing Honors, edited by Linda Frost, Lisa W. Kay, and Rachael Poe, by the National Collegiate Honors Council (p. 125-140).

Dr. Margarita Denenburg (School of Music & Theatre) has published a six-book review in the peer-reviewedAMT (American Music Teacher) in the December/January issue.

Dr. Justin Pruneski (biology) presented a session, Getting More out of Animations: Going Beyond the Content, at the Northwest Ohio Annual Symposium on Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics Teaching on Nov. 21 at Bowling Green State University. Dr. Nate Beres (chemistry), Dr. Xiaoming Huang (math) and Dr.Karen Jones (education) also attended, along with students Ali Bauer, Nate Good, Enya Granados and Ally Guarino.
