Computer Science to welcome back alum

Students, faculty and staff are invited to a light reception and presentation by 'Berg alumnus Fred Legge, ’80, and his colleagues from the National Air and Space Intelligence Center at Wright Patterson Air Force Base. The reception will be at 4 p.m. Wednesday, March 28, in Bareis 310.

The Computer Science Department is hosting Fred and his colleagues – including alum Jennifer (Wargo) Oda, ’10 – Wednesday and Thursday. He is the chief of the Plans and Programs Branch at NASIC and Jen is an IT specialist and IT program manager. Other computer science grads working at NASIC include Tyler Oda, ’10; Stephanie Below, ’15; and Matthew Tussing, ’16.

In addition to the presentation and the reception, Fred also will be conducting one-on-one interviews with seniors on Thursday. Those sessions are being coordinated through Mark McKee in the Owen Center.

NASIC is the primary Defense Department producer of foreign aerospace intelligence. NASIC develops its products by analyzing all available data on foreign aerospace forces and weapons systems to determine performance characteristics, capabilities, vulnerabilities and intentions. The center's assessments are also an important factor in shaping national security and defense policies. As the DoD expert on foreign aerospace system capabilities, the center historically has also been involved in supporting American weapons treaty negotiations and verification.
