Appreciating strong partners

The Education Department hosted its second annual Partnership Appreciation Open House Wednesday with junior and senior education majors, their mentor teachers and their principals. It was an opportunity to say thanks for the excellent partnership between Heidelberg and the local/area schools that host our students -- from field experience to student-teaching -- throughout their four years studying to become teachers. In all, Heidelberg places about 150 students in schools every semester, including 28 who completed student-teaching this academic year.

According to Dr. Karen Jones, the department also used the event to celebrate the graduating student-teachers before sending them off to classrooms of their own. As part of the event, the department gave the participating principals access to all of the students' resumés and used a slide show about each of them to highlight their achievements.
