MAC celebrates successful year, anniversary

The Master of Arts in Counseling Program celebrated its 30th anniversary and the end of this academic year on Friday, April 6. The event was hosted by Chi Sigma Iota, the national counseling honor society.

The board members include Rebecca Neal, president, Katie Martin, vice president; Haley Mangette, secretary; Yuichi Sasakawa, treasurer; Mary Felton, clinical counseling representative; Robert Fruscella, school counseling representative; and Ronee Rice, alumni liaison.

During the event, Dr. Daniel Cruikshanks, former MAC faculty member, spoke about professional counseling identity. Another former MAC faculty member, Dr. Megan Mahon, also returned for the festivities. along with 80-plus people that included MAC students and their friends and family. Additionally, 13 of the students in the MAC program were inducted into the Chi Sigma Iota Counseling Honor’s Society.

Students who will be graduating in May were also recognized during the event, and awards were given to two of the graduating students. The Outstanding MAC Clinical Student was awarded to Kyle Anderson, and the Outstanding MAC School Student was awarded to Katie Martin.

The evening came to a close with a raffle that consisted of various prizes donated by the community.
