5 Things to Know: Tom Alexander

Tom Alexander chose Heidelberg not once, not twice but three times. In September, he returned as the Director of Admission.

After recruiting students at HU for four years, then stepping away to work in enrollment services for Ohio State for a couple of years, the ’11 and ’15 ’Berg alum is back on his home turf.

It’s an ironic landing place for the first-generation college student who wasn’t initially convinced of the value of a college education. A year in the working world changed his mind.

“I came here for a football visit and walked away very convinced this was the place that would position me to succeed,” he says. And it has! First impressions and the right fit got him here, and his connections to professors, staff, Excelsior brothers and alumni friends kept him coming back.

“As a student, those key relationships made me want to stay.” And now, he gets to share those experiences and advice to help prospective students decide if Heidelberg is right for them.
