Group attends microbiology conference, connects with alum

Dr. Justin Pruneski accompanied a group of students to the conference, where they met up with recent grad Kaylee Wilburn.

Dr. Justin Pruneski (biology) and nine 'Berg students attended the annual meeting of the Ohio Branch of the American Society for Microbiology April 12-13 at Loraine County Community College in Elyria. Students attending were Melanie Cohn, Kristina Confesor, Madeline Deiderick, Gillian Duer, Samantha Escalera, Christine Galloway, Christina Mealwitz, Holly Meade and Sydney Shaffer. Justin was invited to give a presentation in the Education Session, titled "Engaging Students with Case Studies: Not Just for Medical Microbiology Anymore."

While at the conference, the group also met up with recent alum Kaylee Wilburn, '18, who was there presenting research from her first year in her master's program in microbiology at Bowling Green State University. Kaylee's poster presentation was titled "Isolating Phage on Pseudomonas Plant and Human Pathogens."
