Faculty Pursuits: Summer 2019

A project by Dr. Lucy Biederman that combines visual art, creative writing and English literacy research, An Essay Into the Poetry of Mrs. Celia Dropkin, was published in the July/August issue of POETRY and can be read here.

As the recipient of Penn State University's Helen F. Faust Women Writers Research Travel Award, Lucy spent part of July researching the Black Sparrow Archives at Penn State. While there, she gave a presentation on her archival research titled Purity and Success: Joyce Carol Oates at Black Sparrow Press.

In May, Lucy read from her book, The Walmart Book of the Dead, at the In Your ear reading series in Washington, D.C.

Dr. Nancy El Gendy (English) was recently interviewed by author Lena Mahmoud for The Michigan Quarterly Review. You can read the interview here.

Dr. Salil Khetani (Marketing) has had his first research article published. Salil was the co-author, with Sachin Banker, on Algorithm Overdependence: How the Use of Algorithmic Recommendation Systems Can Increase Risks to Consumer Well-Being. You can read the article here.
