MAC students busy serving the community

It’s been a busy and productive fall semester for students and faculty in the Master of Arts in Counseling program. Here’s a glimpse into some of their activities:

• A component of the counseling program is a clinical or school-based internship. This is 600 hours of working in a site with clients and students, with two years of preparatory coursework to get to that stage of the program. And while it is hard work, many of the students will tell you how fulfilling the challenge is! Two of our students, Morgan Spradlin and Mo Stohlman, have headed across town to Tiffin University’s Counseling Center, where they work with individual students, teach outreach and more. Morgan works with the local chapter of the National Alliance of Mental Health and hosts campus movie nights. Mo attended the NAMI  17th annual Ray of Hope Awards, where she led the Cross the Line experience with those in attendance.

• MAC connects with the community in numerous ways, from service and field experiences to advocacy and events. As a part of the Foundation Speaker series focusing on mental health, MAC students attended Max's Miles (pictured), a suicide awareness event that featured a children's run, children's crafts, a bounce house, food vendors, live music and more. The students also had a booth at the self-care fair and a booth at the Kevin Hines talk.
