Singing actors perform 'Seasons of Love'

Music and theatre students worked with Benjamin Czarnota (center) on their performance of Seasons of Love. Curtis King (far left) provided accompaniment.

Heidelberg music and theatre students came together Saturday for Seasons of Love, a concert of musical theatre from such classics as Showboat, Cinderella, Rent and Chicago. Their performance was part of the Vocal Arts Series, created by Dr. Carol Dusdieker. The series allows students to work with vocal professionals in both classical and popular musical theatre styles.

This year, Benjamin Czarnota, an experienced stage performer in opera, musical theatre and soloist of classical pieces, spent Saturday, Feb. 13 with the students, providing a clinic on the fine points of acting and singing. Czarnota, who has been featured as a soloist during Heidelberg’s Christmas concert in the past, is on the voice faculty at Baldwin Wallace University. He specializes in working with singing actors.
