Ulmer named OAC Player of the Week
AUSTINTOWN, Ohio -- Highlighted by a near record-breaking performance, Heidelberg University women's basketball player Brittanie Ulmer was selected as the Ohio Athletic Conference's Player of the Week on Monday afternoon.
The award is the first for the senior from Lima, Ohio, and the program's first since Alyssa Riley won the award on February 4, 2018.
In three games over the holiday season, Ulmer averaged 22 points per game, 2.7 rebounds per contest, 1.7 steals per game, and shot 46% from the floor including 38% from beyond the arc.
In a 93-48 win over Manchester at the Bishop Classic, Ulmer flirted with program history. She scored 34 points which is just six shy of the school record of 40 set in 2013 by Kathleen Phillips. Ulmer's mark is still good enough for sixth all-time for most points in a game in school history. The 34 points, did break the tournament record (previously set at 31) for the annual tournament hosted by Ohio Wesleyan.
Additionally in the game, Ulmer connected on seven 3-pointers which tied her for second in made threes in a game, a mark set by current head coach Morgan Harrigan during the 2007 season.
In a narrow loss to Ohio Wesleyan and an important in-conference win over Mount Union, Ulmer scored 16 points in each contest.
Ulmer will return to competition with the Student Princes this Wednesday as they travel to Ohio Northern University for a 7 p.m. tip-off.
