Distinguished alumna inducted into OFIC Hall of Excellence

President Rob Huntington and Dr. Susan Wolf celebrate her induction into the OFIC Hall of Excellence.

Alumna and Trustee Dr. Susan C. Wolf has been inducted into the Ohio Foundation of Independent Colleges Hall of Excellence.

Susan, who graduated from Heidelberg in 1971 and went on to complete master’s and Ph.D. degrees from The Ohio State University and her medical degree from Cornell University, joins an elite group of Heidelberg alumni in OFIC’s Hall of Excellence, including the late Ralph Besse, Russell Gifford, John Q. Adams and Sondra Libman. President Rob Huntington nominated Wolf and introduced her at the induction ceremony Wednesday (April 6) in Columbus.

“Susan has devoted her life to learning and serving others in medical sciences, including her alma mater,” Rob said. “Through her actions and generosity, she is always ensuring academic excellence for our current and future science students.”

Annually, the OFIC honors alumni from its membership institutions for professional leadership, civic engagement, career accomplishments, lifelong learning, and support of the liberal arts and independent higher education in Ohio.

In addition to Susan, the OFIC also inducted Rev. Dr. Gary V. Simpson of Denison University, Sister Diana Stano of Ursuline College and Dr. Mervin C. Yoder of Malone University.

Susan has experienced success in the research lab, the classroom and in private gynecology practice in New York City, where she lives. Although she is retired, she continues her service by promoting educational initiatives to patients and physicians on the topics of women’s and gynecological health issues.

A biology major as an undergrad, Susan is a standard bearer for service and philanthropy to her alma mater. She and her husband, Stephen Reynolds, have made significant financial gifts to Heidelberg, including creation and funding of an endowed faculty chair in the natural sciences as part of the university’s Academic Comprehensive Campaign for Excellence. In strong support of undergraduate research, she has funded Heidelberg’s cadaver lab and continues to fund the acquisition of cadavers for use in anatomy and physiology labs. She has served in a leadership role on Heidelberg’s Board of Trustees since 2007.
