The positive purpose of power -- Bridgette Heller at PALS

Pat Adams, Bridgette Heller and Susan McCafferty share a moment after the PALS keynote address and dinner on April 7.

People either have power or they don’t. More importantly, though, is how individuals shape, nurture and use their personal power, according to Bridgette Heller, the spring guest of The Patricia Adams Lecture Series. During her keynote address, Heller, the former Merck & Co. top executive, used stories to illustrate how power can nurture and empower people and conversely, how it can stunt their success. Earlier in the day, Heller led two lively sessions centered around the importance of living a mission- and values-driven life. In her sessions on Writing Your Personal Mission Statement and Resumé Writing and Your Brand, she provided great advice for students heading into their careers. Additionally, she met with other cmall groups and participated in the School of Business's Women's Entrepreneur Awards breakfast.
