HU announces tentative Commencement plans

Today, Heidelberg University announced tentative plans for an in-person, socially distanced and masked Commencement ceremony on May 16, 2021.

While there are still logistical details to flesh out, the working plan is to conduct five separate ceremonies of related majors in a succession of 90-minute cycles, beginning at 10 a.m. and concluding at approximately 5 p.m.

In preparation, it’s now time to order your Commencement regalia. The cost of your cap and gown is covered by your graduation fee. However, to receive your cap and gown package, you must complete your order on the Heidelberg University page of the Herff-Jones website. Please follow this link to complete your order by April 9, 2021. Contact Stacy Wheeler, Bookstore manager, at swheeler@heidelberg.edu with any cap and gown ordering questions.

It is important – in light of all that the pandemic has taught us – that we provide the most appropriate and safest way to honor the Class of 2021. This includes incorporating all current health precautions into our ceremonies. One of the important details is to seek approval from the Seneca County General Health District for our Commencement plans, and that is in process.

Additional information will be forthcoming very soon, so be sure to watch your ‘Berg email in the coming weeks.
