Faculty Gala features diverse performances

Typically, they’re training future musicians and actors to be on stage, but this Sunday, the faculty of Heidelberg University’s School of Music & Theatre will be on stage themselves for a collaboration of their talents. The annual Faculty Gala takes place at 2 p.m. Sunday (Oct. 17) at Ohl Concert Hall in Breneman Music Hall. The community is invited to attend, free of charge.

The diverse program features instrumental, vocal and composition performances by faculty members Thaddeus Archer (trumpet), Carrie Banfield-Taplin (horn), Maria Bessmeltzeva (violin), Renee Clair (voice), Ben Czarnota (voice), Carol Dusdieker (voice), Matthew Kennedy (composition), and the jazz trio of Scott Kretzer, Nathan Santos and guest artist Pete Ford.

The annual meeting of Berg Bravo!, Heidelberg’s arts and support organization, will precede the concert at 12:30 p.m. in Pancoast Recital Hall. Everyone is invited.

A reception will follow the concert. Masks will be required and social distancing will be observed for all three events.
