HLC grants reaffirmation of Heidelberg's accreditation

Heidelberg University has received great news from the Higher Learning Commission. After two years of comprehensive self-evaluation and review, the HLC has reaffirmed our accreditation for another 10 years. Provost Dr. Beth Schwartz and President Rob Huntington made the announcement to the campus community on Wednesday.

The news comes following the campus visit Feb. 29-March 1 by a team of HLC peer reviewers. HLC’s Institutional Actions Council also affirmed the university’s eligibility to select one of three pathways for reaffirmation of accreditation. Beth announced that the Open Pathway has been chosen, providing the university with the independence to pursue improvements in areas geared toward our needs and aspirations.

The privilege of choosing one’s pathway is granted to only some institutions. In addition to the 10-year reaffirmation of accreditation that HLC granted, Heidelberg is also required to provide an interim report in two years that illustrates improvements in assessment across campus.

Beth and Rob acknowledged the collaborative work and dedication of the campus for the successful reaffirmation outcome. “It would not have been possible without the efforts of many of you from the time of preparing the document to the HLC team visit earlier this year,” she said.
