Nineteen 'Berg students traveled to McAllen, Texas, from June 18-25 for a week of service in a vibrant Mexican immigrant community for the NDI 345 course, Service Learning on the U.S/Mexico Border. In exchange for the hospitality of their host organization (ARISE), the students volunteered for the summer children's program and also participated in educational excursions around the Rio Grande Valley. The student participants included Jessica Barnes, Kyleah Brey, Jake Bruder, Hannah Draper, Brianne Galbraith, Allie Gales, Baylee Garrett, Evelyn Gonzalez, Allie Greer, Megan Honaker, Nick Johnson, Melissa Kerr, Mollie Knighton, Ryan O'Neill, Taylor Robison, Joceylyn Schartiger, Tyler Stagani, Melissa Ware and Elizabeth Wren. Chaperones for the trip included Dr. Cindy Lepeley (Spanish) and 'Berg alums Andy Helms and Stephanie Krawec.
