CNIT is the department which supports Heidelberg students, faculty, staff and researchers in their use of technology on campus.

CNIT offers Helpdesk assistance to all students, faculty, and staff. You can request assistance by stopping in (Bareis Hall, Room 309), visiting the CNIT Service Desk, or calling (419-448-2088). The Helpdesk is open Monday through Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM. If you are unable to log into the CNIT Service Desk using the Sign In With Google button, please send an email to

Services offered at the Helpdesk include:

  • Virus / malware detection and removal
  • Software installation assistance
  • Device onboarding assistance (getting on the WiFi / network)
  • Laptop hardware repair (e.g. broken screen replacement)
  • Temporary laptop loaner service
  • Various other services

CNIT furnishes the university with the necessary technology infrastructure including:

  • data network (wired and WiFi)
  • video system (cable television and video distribution services, Spectrum U)
  • voice system (VoIP office phones and voice mail)

We also manage many services offered over that campus infrastructure: 

  • Networking services (e.g. identity, web, file and print services, etc.)
  • Google Workspace (our Web-based email, calendaring and collaboration tool from Google)
  • Canvas (learning management system)
  • Banner (administrative and academic systems, including Oasis and DegreeWorks)
  • The educational technology needs of the campus (e.g. faculty services, smart classrooms, etc.)
