We can’t initiate meaningful change without your help! The Heidelberg Sustainability Committee secured its largest grant yet in August of 2017 to equip all residence hall rooms and academic offices with recycling containers.
This helps continue the campus-wide initiative to work toward a more green environment. Recyclables will be collected and transported on a weekly basis to recycling facilities. You can help by using the containers located in each building on campus.
Items we collect for recycling
Plastic/Bottles only Any plastic in the form of a bottle including beverage bottles, milk jugs, softener, bleach and detergent bottles, shampoo bottles, etc. Rinse and flatten to save space. No plastic bags, Styrofoam, motor oil containers, buckets, lids butter tubs, plant trays, deli containers, plastic toys, etc. Look for the recycling logo (insert logo). If it’s there, it’s recyclable.
Corrugated Cardboard Please take to recycling bins located behind between Hoernemann and Seiberling. These are specific containers for cardboard only. However, all recycling containers located at Brown/France, Miller/Williard, or King can accept cardboard.
Aluminum Beverage Cans Rinse cans.
Newspaper & Office Paper Leave advertisement inserts in newspaper. No colored construction paper, candy wrappers, tissues, glossy material, napkins, hanging or reinforced file folders, copy paper covers, carbon copy paper, etc.
Again, if you see a recycling logo on any material, that product can be recycled in our large containers outside the following locations:
Recycling Container Locations
Brown/France Hall
Miller/Williard Hall
King Hall
Look for signs, flyers, posters, etc. with further information on recycling at Heidelberg. If you are interested, please feel free to attend a Sustainability meeting in Campus Center 136 (near Stoner Health & Counseling Center) on the 2nd Wednesday of every month at 9 a.m.
