Hundreds of alumni set to celebrate Alumni Weekend 2023: 'Berg Family Vacation
Heidelberg University is preparing for the arrival of nearly 500 next weekend (June 9-11) as the university hosts its annual Alumni Weekend. This year’s theme is “’Berg Family Vacation.”
A variety of activities are planned on campus for returning alumni, who will have the opportunity to enjoy a picnic dinner and music, Classes Without Quizzes, the annual Parade of Classes, the traditional alumni luncheon with the presentation of the 2023 alumni awards. Music & Theatre and Greek alumni also will have special receptions on campus on Saturday.
Other important events include the Medallion Club luncheon that honors those who graduated 50 years ago and the class reunion dinners. This year, the class of 1973 will celebrate the golden anniversary of its graduation from Heidelberg. Alumni from the 10-year reunion Class of 2013, the 25-year reunion class of 1998 and the 40-year reunion Class of 1983 will celebrate their landmark reunions, as will the 55-year Class of 1968 and the 60-year Class of 1963. Additional classes whose graduation years end in 3 and 8 also will be honored.
Alumni Weekend 2023 also will feature several special events, including a breakfast, “Catalyzing Progress: A Bold Path Forward,” with President Rob Huntington and members of the Board of Trustees, the dedication of the Percy L. Lilly Campus Forest and the Pancoast Patio Dedication at Brenneman Music Hall. The Seneca Regional Chamber of Commerce will conduct a ribbon-cutting at the patio dedication.
Additionally, ‘Berg alumni will have the opportunity to reminisce about their college memories and audio record them in a project titled ‘Berg Briefs, courtesy of the Heidelberg Communication Department. The recorded audios can be shared with other alumni and current and future students.
Other weekend highlights include a tree-planting ceremony in remembrance of alumni and friends who have died in the past year, campus tours and an Authors & Artists event. The weekend concludes with a worship service Sunday morning. The weekend concludes with the summer meeting of the Alumni Council.
