German student has strong showing for HU at state forensics tournament

Denison University hosted the Ohio Forensics Association Fall "Heart of it All" tournament on November 9. Tara Shahsawar, a first-year speaker and exchange student from Germany's University of Heidelberg, won 4th Place in the Informative Speaking category.

Tara majors in American Studies and focuses on Political Science and Literature. Her informative speech compared the funding systems for higher education in Germany and the United States. She will be returning to Germany after this semester to continue her studies.

Director of Forensics Dan Higgins, had this to share about this novice speaker. "Tara's command of the English language and her passion for educational equity is a tremendous combination for this speech. She has definitely left her mark on not only the 'Berg but also the Ohio Forensics Association. We will miss her going forward!”
