Dr. Lisa Kahle-Piasecki and Students

Dr. Lisa Kahle-Piasecki (School of Business) represented Heidelberg at Legislative Visit Day on April 2, 2026, where she shared insights on how educational institutions across Ohio are developing community-centered initiatives. As part of her remarks, she highlighted an honors course from last semester that focused on social innovation projects connecting communities in the United States and Mexico.

She was joined by students Georgene Herman, Sarah Jewel (who also volunteered at the event), Sophie Mahoney, and Jeremiah Villalobos, who participated in discussions and explored ideas to implement at Heidelberg in the 2026–27 school year.

Dr. Aaron Sell (Psychology & Criminology) recently published "The evolutionary logic of anger and hatred: an empirical test" (co-authored with M. Landers, C. Scrivner, and A. Lopez) in Evolution and Human Behavior, 46(6), 106776.

Dr. Robin DuFresne (Master of Arts in Counseling) attended the Association for Counselor Education and Supervision (ACES) conference, where she also presented. She will additionally be attending the American Counseling Association (ACA) Conference in April 2026. Dr. DuFresne serves as Associate Editor for The Professional Counselor (TPC), one of our flagship open-access journals designed to be directly accessible to practicing counselors in the field. Additionally, Dr. DuFresne was honored with Heidelberg’s Distinguished Faculty Service Award—a well-deserved recognition of her outstanding contributions to the institution.

Dr. Meagan McBride (Master of Arts in Counseling) attended the Association for Counselor Education and Supervision (ACES) conference, where she also presented.

Dr. DoHee Kim Appel (Master of Arts in Counseling) remains active in several professional arenas:

  • Attended the Association for Counselor Education and Supervision (ACES) International Student and Faculty Interest Network (ISFIN) 10th Anniversary Celebration as a founding member and was invited to deliver a keynote address.
