Financial aid is renewed on an annual basis. The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) can be filed after October 1st and is required for any need-based financial aid eligibility.
The University strives to maintain university funds for a student at the previous year award amount unless the family’s financial situation has changed significantly or the student fails to maintain satisfactory academic progress (SAP) or their scholarship renewal gpa.
Students and parents are encouraged to use the IRS Data Retrieval Tool (IRS DRT) when reporting income information on their FAFSA. The IRS DRT will transfer tax information directly to the student’s FAFSA which will help avoid mistakes and complete the form more quickly. Students randomly selected for verification must be verified prior to the financial aid package being released.
Returning students’ financial aid awards will be available beginning in mid-March and can be found electronically through banner self-service. Students are sent an email letting them know their award is available and with their Tuition Payment Plan attached. A copy of the Tuition Payment Plan with a letter of explanation is also sent to their home address.
