Heidelberg University has been granted funding from the U.S. Department of Education under the CARES Act Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund (HEERF). These funds are being designated to assist students who have experienced financial hardship brought on by the COVID-19 health crisis.
The following procedures will be used to award the CARES Act Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund for Heidelberg University students.
The student must have filed the 2019-2020 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) to be determined as a Title IV-eligible student.
We will provide an application for students to identify their expenses related to COVID-19 in order to award HEERF funding.
All degree-seeking students will be encouraged to apply for assistance to help relieve their expenses related to the COVID-19 pandemic.
A minimum of $500 will be awarded to all students identifying an expense. If a student is Pell-eligible, a minimum of $700 will be awarded to that student. The current maximum allocation is $2,000 pending the review of the student’s application and supporting documentation.
Applications will be reviewed by a minimum of two members from the HEERF committee. One of the committee members will be from the Office of Financial Aid.
Review of the applications will be within 10 days and notification of results will be sent via email to the students.
Appeals will be considered after August 1, 2020 if there are remaining funds available.
Funds will be paid directly to the student via automatic direct deposit.
