Heidelberg University-Community Chorus Concert

Heidelberg University Chorus Concert themed How Do I Love Thee?

In the last 18 months, the COVID pandemic has had a devastating impact on every aspect of our lives. Months of sickness, fear, isolation, hope, and disappointment have changed the way we think and behave. One of the most unfortunate consequences of the pandemic has been a noticeable rise in disagreeable, even hostile, words and actions between people of differing viewpoints. Clearly, our world is in critical need of healing.

Composer Paul Hindemith wrote, "People who make music together cannot be enemies, at least while the music lasts." In the musical arts, communication and the complete and selfless unification of our minds, wills, and emotions is paramount to an ensemble's success. As we lift up our voices in solidarity with one another, the words, melodies, harmonies, and rhythms that we sing combine to create waves of positive energy.

The literature that the Community-Chorus will be performing this year is intended to trace the trajectory from bitterness and hatred to peace and love.
