HUCTM Fall Speaker Series: Kim Yoak
HUCTM has been working to figure out ways to engage and include all education students in our work. Since we are unable to do Math Camps, we are hoping to approach this semester with some new and innovative ideas. We will be providing students will virtual professional development opportunities through the fall semester. Join us via Zoom to hear Kim Yoak, Executive Director of OCTM, as she discusses how mathematics education can support everyone.
Kim Yoak has served as the Executive Director of the Ohio Council of Teachers of Mathematics since 2016, and she is also a past president of the organization. She is also an independent mathematics specialist and an ardent promoter of the OCTM mission: "Engage, Inspire, Empower with Mathematics!" Kim provides professional support to mathematics educators, administrators, and community members, and she particularly values ongoing work with groups of teachers, including substantial time spent in their classrooms with students. She believes that equity is the most important goal for mathematics education and that this goal will only be achieved when all individuals' ways of interacting with mathematics are equally valued.
