The Tiffin-Seneca Community Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Day celebration is going virtual at 7:00 p.m., January 18, 2021. Click Here to get a link to join this celebration. Prior to 7:00 p.m. you will be taken to a Tiffin University weblink on the event.  At the time of the event you will be linked to a recording of this virtual event.

Addressing the theme “Seeking Justice: Make it Fair,” Dr. Trevor Bates, the newly appointed president of Wilmington College, will speak on “Keep Moving …Forward.” Bates was the founding Associate Dean of the Division of Health Sciences, Chair and Director of Athletic Training at Heidelberg University.

A traditional part of the celebration, this year’s choral selections include “Wade in the Water” performed by the masked Heidelberg University Concert Choir.

There will also be elementary school children who read their winning essays and the annual Peacemaker’s Award.

This event is sponsored by Heidelberg University, Tiffin University, the Sisters of St. Francis, and Dr. Robert Huntington and Dr. Susan McCafferty.

Collection of items for COVID support (paper towels, all sizes of ziploc bags, laundry soap, dryer sheets, toothpaste, dish soap, hand soap, razors, wash cloths, deodorant, body wash, adult size winter clothing (hats, gloves, socks, coats)  Donations can be placed in boxes around campus to be collected on Friday.

Historical Figures of Great Impact, various locations around campus
Student organizations sponsored a poster board focusing on lesser known African Americans who have made significant contributions.  Sponsoring  organizations include: Berg Allies, Black Student Union, Catholic Newman Club, Chemistry Club, Disability Advocacy Division, Muslim Student Life, and World Student Union
Be sure to check out all of the poster boards to participate in a quiz at the end of the week.  A prize will be awarded for the most correct answers.
