Every spring, the Heidelberg community takes a day off from classes to celebrate and support student research. At Heidelberg’s annual Minds At Work Research Conference, students and faculty present research projects they completed during the year.
It’s a great day for students not only to see Faculty present research in their field, but to support friends from other majors and learn about research in other areas. The conference serves to not only give students professional presentation experience, but also to increase interests and awareness of research.
Research Funding
Hammel Research Fund
Students who would like to request funding for research projects may apply for a grant from the Hammel Research Fund. This Fund is intended to provide Heidelberg students with grants to conduct research in sciences and the arts and to contribute to the advancement of knowledge.
Enrolled undergraduate and graduate students in good academic standing are eligible to apply for this award twice a year - October 1 and February 1. Students may not apply for the award retroactively. Recipients of this award will be required to present a report of their study at the annual Minds at Work Research Conference.
Undergraduate Research/Scholarship Pepsi Grant
Students who need financial assistance for research projects and/or to cover the costs of attending conferences for professional/leadership development may apply to receive a Pepsi Grant. Enrolled undergraduate students in good academic standing are eligible to apply for this award twice a year: October 1 and February 1. The amount of the award is based on the applicability of the project to the purpose of the Pepsi Fund, the quality of the individual project submitted and the availability of funds.
Whether applying for Pepsi or Hammel Research Funds, students may earn up to a total of $600 within an academic year (Fall-Summer).
