Student Senate Mission

Heidelberg University Student Senate is the representative body of all students at the University. Senate acts to ensure the student body’s general welfare is not unjustly infringed and Senate acts to promote and foster the mission of the University.

In order to execute the Senate’s purpose, the members of Senate shall:

Promote academic freedom and scholarly inquiry;
Maintain open communication for the expression of student opinion/concerns and work toward their satisfactory resolution;
Initiate legislation to achieve the duties and responsibilities of Senate;
Open and maintain communication with all levels of the University’s administration;
Establish and maintain a budget and Finance committee to fairly allocate student activities fees;
Govern the student organizations of Heidelberg University, and
Serve on Faculty and Administration committees.

Academic Travel Funds Available

Student Senate accepts requests from students for conference travel funding!

Heidelberg Senate funding can only be used for current, undergraduate Heidelberg students. Requests should be submitted at least one month prior to travel. Only fully completed applications will be considered. Only one form per trip needs to be submitted. The trip coordinator who completes the application must be a current, undergraduate Heidelberg student.
